INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP
3D Visualisation in GIS and Augmented Reality
19-21 September 2014 Viggiano – South Italy
In this workshop participants will be introduced to the basics of 3D visualisation in GIS and Augmented Reality (AR). After completing the workshop, the participants will gain transferable skills in GIS, a knowledge base of 3D modeling and Augmented Reality technology. Participants will be involved in many activities delivered by experienced lecturers. The participants will work in the historical center of Viggiano, a small village in Basilicata Region with an old and fascinating history. The urban structure is medieval but are still preserved numerous stone portals from XIX Century. Most of them have wonderful keystones with figure and dates of construction. During the workshop we will use this wonderful heritage site to create maps and database of the stone portals, 3D models of some portals and keystones, Digital Terrain Model (DTM) of Viggiano historical center and digital restoration and simulation using AR technology.

Fee and application procedure
The registration fee is 250 EUR (not refundable) per person including lecture material, welcome party and final certificate (Travel and accommodation costs are not covered by the participation fee). Participants who will register before 20th August 2014 will pay only 200 EUR (not refundable). We will select a maximum of 20 participants. We will do a selection of the participants based on the CV and on criteria first-come first-serve.

Location
Viggiano (Potenza) – Basilicata Region – South Italy Viggiano is a town in the province of Potenza, in the Southern Italian region of Basilicata. The field work will be held in the historical center of Viggiano. Lessons and lab activities will be held at Hotel dell´Arpa in Viggiano (http://www.hoteldellarpa.it/).

How to get there
From ROME: Piazzale Tiburtina, Bus SITA to Villa d’Agri. Departure at 15:00. Arrival in Villa d’Agri at 19:20. In Villa d’Agri there is a Bus connection to Viggiano (7 km.)
From NAPLES: Piazza Garibaldi, Bus SITA to Villa d’Agri. Departure at 09:50. Arrival in Villa d’Agri at 12:00. Departure at 14:00. Arrival in Villa d’Agri at 16:30. In Villa d’Agri there is a Bus connection to Viggiano (7 km.) (In Capodichino Airport in Napoli you have the bus ANM, line 3S to Piazza Garibaldi (Stazione Centrale), leaving every 10 minutes).
